Jokowi’s response to the threat of Shin Tae-yong’s resignation from the Indonesian national team

KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responds to the statements Shin Tae-yong who is ready to step down as coach of the Indonesian national team.

Shin Tae-yong released the statement at the urging of the president general PSSI Mochamad Iriawan to step down as a form of responsibility The Kanjuruhan tragedy which killed more than 100 people on October 1, 2022.

Shin Tae-yong’s attitude reached his ears President Jokowi. However, President Jokowi declined to comment further.

Regarding the results of the TGIPF investigation, President Jokowi said the report would only be released this morning.

“The TGIPF team will report it to me tomorrow morning. It will only be tomorrow morning, so I can only broadcast it tomorrow afternoon,” President Jokowi said Thursday (13/10/2022).

Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong said he would step down as coach of the Indonesian national team if PSSI general president Mochamad Iriawan resigned from his position.

This was communicated by Shin Tae-yong through his Instagram upload on Wednesday (10/12/2022) which received the support of numerous players from the Indonesian national team.

In his upload, Shin Tae-yong feels partly responsible because he is part of the PSSI.

Shin Tae-yong’s statement sparked mixed reactions from netizens. Shin Tae-yong’s attitude was considered disrespectful towards the victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy until the hashtag #STYOut appeared on social media.

Meanwhile, Indonesian national team assistant coach Nova Arianto stressed that there has been no pressure from any party on Shin Tae-yong.
