President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave special directions to the new commander of the TNI, Admiral Yudo Margono. The special directive to Admiral Yudo is related to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua, so Yudo is firm with the KKB.
This was conveyed by Jokowi when he gave directions to Admiral Yudo who was just appointed commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. It is known that today General Andika Perkasa has officially been replaced by Yudo.
Jokowi initially said that the humanist approach and the reduction of TNI soldiers in Papua were very positive. However, he also reminded Yudo that he stands firm with the KKB due to the brutal deeds they often perform.
“I think the humanist approach is good, the reduction of TNI soldiers in Papua is good, but you have to be firm that the KKB does it all the time, so it won’t solve the problem,” Jokowi said at the State Palace, Central Jakarta , Monday (19/12/2022).
Earlier, Jokowi also relayed a series of messages to Yudo, who had just been appointed commander of the TNI to replace General Andika Perkasa.
“I ordered him to protect the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia first,” Jokowi said.
Secondly, Jokowi asked Yudo to maintain unity and oneness. Yudo, also required Jokowi increase public confidence in the TNI.
“Secondly, maintain our unity. Then also, maintain and increase public trust in the TNI, which is now at an all-time high. This trust must be professionally maintained within the TNI which must continue to be improved.” he has declared.
Jokowi also left a message for Yudo regarding the 2024 political year or election. Jokowi asked Yudo to always maintain TNI neutrality and stay away from practical politics.
“In order to maintain the neutrality of the TNI so that it is not dragged into practical politics which is important, because and the importance of the synergy between the TNI and Polri in maintaining our country’s readiness, because political stability is important, stability of security is important in the context of the development of the country, the development of our economy, in an uncertain situation due to global uncertainty,” said Jokowi.
