Quoted from a release from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi arrived at the White House, Washington DC, on Thursday (12/5) at around 17.20 local time.
At the dinner at the White House, Jokowi was present with the leaders of other ASEAN countries.
Jokowi was immediately greeted by Biden who then shook hands and took a group photo.
From the video that went viral on Twitter social media, after the joint photo, Joe Biden immediately approached the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah.
It seems that the number 1 person in the Republic of Indonesia seems to have been ignored by Biden.
The photo was also spread on social media twitter. Warganet was busy commenting on the photo.
One of them is political observer Faizal Assegaf.
Faizal even asked Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD to explain Jokowi’s gesture.
“Mr. Coordinating Minister @mohmahfudmd, JKW’s gesture gives a signal that Indonesia is neutral, being ignored or is it really stressful facing the geopolitical situation…?” said Faizal quoted from his personal twitter, Saturday (14/5/2022).
He also hopes that in the future the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, will be more authoritative on the global stage.
