Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – This week, the anger of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has returned to the public’s attention. In front of the ministers and a number of regional heads, Jokowi expressed his anger because Indonesia could not suppress imports of goods from abroad.
Jokowi even mentioned the matter of replacing ministers in his cabinet (reshuffle), if they cannot overcome the import problem that makes it difficult for domestic industries to develop.
Jokowi’s anger was revealed when he gave a briefing at the Affirmation Action Proudly Made in Indonesia, which was broadcast live via the Presidential Secretariat Youtube, Friday (25/3/2022).
Jokowi admitted that he couldn’t understand how many ministries, institutions and local governments were still ‘hooked’ for spending on imported goods. In fact, imported goods can be produced domestically.
Several organizers who are said to be still fond of imports include the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
“I’m sad, buying all imported goods,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi then touched on the issue of reshuffling the cabinet. At first, Jokowi asked SOE Minister Erick Thohir to replace the directors of state-owned companies who did not comply with the things agreed by the government.
If the matter of changing SOE directors is the authority of the Minister of SOEs, then it is a different story for leaders in each ministry. “That’s my part. Reshuffle. It’s done… I will monitor it properly,” said Jokowi.
