President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened his voice about the cost of swelling or cost overrun Jakarta-Bandung fast train. Jokowi said the government must be pro towards mass transportation.
“We have to be pro towards mass transportation,” said Jokowi at the Jakarta International (JI) Expo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Thursday (16/2/2023).
Jokowi warned not to be pro towards private vehicles. According to him, pro towards mass transportation such as fast trains is a must for big cities.
“Be careful, don’t be pro on private vehicles, even though this is at IIMS. Pro on mass transportation, so MRT, LRT, trains, fast trains, are a must for big cities, for, so that modes of transportation are integrated within city or from city to city. So people don’t tend to private cars,” he explained.
The Indonesian and Chinese sides have agreed on the size of the project or cost overrun Jakarta-Bandung fast train. BUMN Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo stated the value cost overrun agreed amounting to USD 1.2 billion or around Rp. 18 trillion.
This figure is lower than the calculation by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). Jakarta-Bandung fast train swelling of USD 1.49 billion or Rp. 21.8 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 15,600).
However, the swelling value is above China’s calculation of USD 980 million or around Rp. 15.2 trillion.
“So we agree with China on fast trains that the figure is USD 1.2 billion. We’re tidying up, there are some item about the study of taxes, costs clearing frequency, and so on,” said Kartika in a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Monday (13/2).
