Jokowi Warns for Mouth Nail Disease, Asks for Zoning Lockdown-Form of Task Force

President Jokowi warned of nail and mouth disease from livestock. Jokowi asked Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo to implement lockdown zoning to prevent mutations of the disease.

“Be careful, yesterday we talked to the ministers about nail and mouth disease. I ask the Minister of Agriculture to do this immediately. lockdown zonasi, lockdown in the region so that the movement of livestock from one place to another or the movement of livestock from district to district, especially from province to province, can really be prevented,” Jokowi said at a cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Monday (9/5/2022).

Jokowi also instructed the National Police Chief to carry out strict security in the field, especially the movement of livestock from the regions.

“I also ask the National Police Chief to really take care of this in the field regarding the movement of livestock from areas that have been declared to have foot and mouth disease. Form a Task Force so that it is clear who is responsible,” he explained.

During the cabinet meeting, Jokowi also asked his cabinet to concentrate on the issue of the pandemic and the global economy. Jokowi assessed that the two things were not finished and caused uncertainty.

Jokowi said the daily increase in COVID cases was now relatively low. Even so, he asked the public to remain vigilant because there are still more than 6,000 active cases recorded.

“The first is for the business of COVID, there were 227 confirmed cases yesterday, indeed this is already very low, but we still have to be vigilant because there are still 6,192 active cases in the country,” he said.

Jokowi also asked his cabinet to convey to the public that PPKM is still ongoing. According to him, PPKM will be abolished until the Covid case can really be controlled.

“And I ask that for this PPKM affair, many people who are waiting, stop or continue, are still continuing, so please after this it is conveyed that PPKM will continue until we are really convinced that we can control 100 percent COVID,” he said.
