Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he was surprised by the continuation of the project Ciliwung River canal by Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono. Even though according to him, this project had stalled for 6 years.
“I am also surprised that Governor Heru has done it. I don’t know what approach it will take, but it’s finished,” he said at the East Flood Canal, East Jakarta, Tuesday (24/1/2023).
Meanwhile, Heru Budi confirmed that land acquisition was one of the obstacles to this project. However, thanks to the approach and coordination of various parties, this problem can be resolved.
“Yes, with various approaches, the mayor has socialized, flats have also been prepared, and others,” he said.
Heru noted that there were 59 families with land acquisition. They are welcome to move to the flats that have been prepared.
Jokowi hopes that this project is expected to reduce flood inundation areas in Jakarta. During standby one, said Jokowi, it can reduce 63 cubic meters per second. While standby 4 reduces 33 cubic meters per second.
While Heru Budi stated that the percentage of floods would be reduced by 10%, “The 10% reduction in percentage (flood) from Ciliwung will be accommodated. About 60 cubic meters are on standby one,” he explained.
The project is targeted for completion in April 2023.
