Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) again outlined various challenges that the world might face, including Indonesia next year.
This was stated by Jokowi during the inauguration of the 2022 Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Trading Opening, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube.
“We have to remind ourselves that in 2022, even though we know there are many challenges we face,” said Jokowi, Monday (3/1/2022).
Jokowi said that the world will face various threats this year, one of which is the emergence of a new variant of the Covid-19 omicron, which was discovered a few months ago in South Africa.
“Whether it’s an increase in inflation, whether it’s tapering off, whether it’s losing containers everywhere, whether other countries are experiencing energy shortages that will disrupt our exports. I think that’s the challenge we will face,” he explained,
Jokowi asked all stakeholders to look at the optimism of the Indonesian economy this year. This is because there have been improvements in a number of growth indicators.
“Consumer confidence from March 113.8 to November, the spending index rose to 102.5, our PMI has risen above before the pandemic, we were 51, we entered 53.9,” he explained.
