President Joko Widodo removing quarantine requirements during the Covid-19 pandemic for foreign travelers (PPLN) who just arrived in Indonesia.
“Travelers from abroad who arrive through airports throughout Indonesia no longer need to go through quarantine. However, the government requires travelers who have just arrived from abroad to do a PCR swab,” Jokowi said in an official statement, Wednesday (23/3).
“If the PCR test is negative, please come out immediately and be able to carry out activities. If the PCR is positive, the Covid-19 task force will handle it,” added Jokowi.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a meeting at the DPR said that the quarantine rules for PPLN were currently irrelevant. The reason is that the transmission of cases from abroad is currently relatively much smaller than the transmission of transmission from within the country.
According to him, quarantine for PPLN is relevant to be applied if there are findings of a new variant of Covid-19. Meanwhile, so far he revealed that Indonesia is still surviving in the midst of the pace of new variants from outside.
“It seems like yesterday we were arrested. And if we have 0 cases. But if we are high, those who enter a little bit will be quarantined no relevant,” he said.
Previously, it was known that the abolition of quarantine for PPLN only applied in several areas, namely Bali, Batam and Bintan.
