Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the Global Leadership Award. The award was presented by the Indonesian International Relations Community, made up of the Indonesian Foreign Policy Community (FPCI) and a number of other associations, thanks to Jokowi’s role during Indonesia’s presidency at the G20 forum in 2022.
Reported BetweenOn Thursday (11/24/2022), FPCI founder and chairman Dino Patti Djalal said the award will be officially presented to President Jokowi at the Indonesian Foreign Policy Conference (CIFP) on Saturday, November 26.
“Over the past eight years, this is the best foreign policy achievement of the President Jokowi. In the past eight years there have been a lot of foreign policy activities related to various issues, but this one in my opinion is the most significant,” Dino said.
According to Dino, the success of the Indonesian presidency at the G20, in the midst of a world situation in crisis, is to be appreciated. Because, according to him, success is no small achievement.
“I think Indonesian history will also record the G20 presidency as a golden moment in Indonesian foreign policy, so we want the public to know that this is not a trivial matter, but something that should be cherished and even proud,” he said . .
Not only on Indonesia’s presidency of the G20 in the midst of an uncertain global situation, Dino also highlighted the concerns from various quarters regarding the G20 itself as a forum embodying the world’s 20 largest economies.
Especially with the war in Ukraine, he continued, many parties saw the G20 as very divided and immersed in a climate of conflict that was difficult to resolve.
In fact, according to Dino, throughout the year the various G20 meetings at ministerial level failed to produce a joint document, leading to the assumption that a joint declaration could not be reached even at the level of heads of state at the top level conference in Bali.
“Many fear that the G20 Summit will be irreversibly damaged and unable to deliver meaningful agreements. All these concerns are real but can be resolved brilliantly by Indonesia under the leadership of Jokowi,” pepper Dino.
Dino added, Indonesia “managed to save the G20 and even made sure that the G20 remained the engine of world economic solutions.”
The prize was awarded by FPCI together with a number of other organisations, namely Muhammadiyah Youth, Indonesian Lecturers Association (ADI), Indonesian International Relations Association (AIHII), Indonesian Post-Paskibraka DKI Jakarta and Indonesia Diaspora Network Global (IDNG) .
The award should also be able to link deeper and more strategic communication between policy makers, especially in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy, with various constituencies and stakeholders whose population is very large in Indonesia.
