Jokowi Prioritizes Change Amidst Close Ties with Prabowo, Ganjar, and Anies

Jakarta

Anies Baswedan responding to President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) moment of togetherness with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and Central Java (Central Java) Governor Ganjar Pranowo on the harvest agenda in Kebumen, Central Java. Anies chose to focus on the changes he brought.

“I focus on messages for change, for progress, for justice. I focus there, because we really want to invite people to make changes,” said Anies after attending the KAHMI Jaya event, Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday (16/3/2023 ).

According to him, this was focused because the Presidential Threshold requirements for presidential nominations had been met. The party supporting him to run for the presidential election, namely Democrats, NasDem and PKS, has also officially provided support.

“Why is it now doing that (focus on change)? Yes, because the 20 percent requirement has been met. I’ve always said I want to focus on that first, it’s over, now the party is over, that’s what’s important. If it’s now, what’s important is invite people, come on together,” he said.

Previously, the General Chairperson of the DPP NasDem Party Surya Paloh responded to Jokowi’s moment of togetherness with Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo on the harvest agenda in Kebumen, Central Java. Paloh believes that if this is indeed a signal of Jokowi’s support for the two, then he considers it fine.

“That’s fine. Promoted by the president. It’s not a good time,” Paloh told reporters at the NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Friday (10/3/2023).

Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility that Jokowi would also promote Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate, Paloh answered diplomatically.

“Well, don’t ask me. Just ask Pak Jokowi,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jokowi observed the rice harvest and had a dialogue with farmers in Lajer Village, Ambal District, Kebumen Regency, on Thursday (9/3). This is Jokowi’s first working visit to Central Java.

From the photo shared by the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi and Prabowo are wearing white shirts. Meanwhile, Ganjar wears a brown service uniform.

They took pictures with the farmers in the fields. There is a photo showing Jokowi holding a cellphone and another photo showing Ganjar holding a cellphone.

The moment Jokowi, Prabowo and Ganjar took a photo together was full of intimacy. They are seen laughing together.

Jokowi Opens Voice

Jokowi spoke up. At first, he answered the issue of political matchmaking behind his action to invite Prabowo and Ganjar.

“It was a big harvest. The harvest was in the fields. Incidentally Pak Prabowo wanted to go to Magelang, I took him together. ‘Okay, together’. Get off at Kulonprogo. Because Pak Prabowo’s meeting was in the afternoon, ‘OK, let’s go to the fields first, let’s have a big harvest’. The big harvest there is me, there is Pak Ganjar, there is Pak Prabowo. Done,” said Jokowi, seen via the Secretariat YouTube channel, Monday (13/3/2023).

Jokowi then answered the question which was the most ideal as a presidential candidate. Prabowo or Ganjar?

“Ideal everything,” Jokowi replied.
