Jokowi Orders Airlangga and Ida Fauziyah to Simplify JHT Payment Procedures and Terms

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo asked Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto and Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah to simplify the procedure for paying old age insurance (JHT) workers.

This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Pratikno) in a video description uploaded to the Ministry of State Secretariat’s YouTube, Monday (21/2/2022).

“This morning the President summoned the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Manpower. The President has ordered that the procedures and requirements for the JHT payment be simplified. It is made easier,” said Pratikno.

“So that JHT funds can be taken by individual workers who are currently experiencing difficult times, especially those who are facing layoffs,” he continued.

On President Jokowi’s order, it is hoped that further arrangements will be made in the revision of the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 22 of 2022 or other regulations.

Pratikno said President Jokowi also continued to follow the aspirations of the workers.

“And he understands the objections of the workers to the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 22 of 2022 concerning the Procedures and Requirements for JHT Payments,” said Pratikno.

“But on the other hand, the President also invites workers to support a conducive situation in order to increase our competitiveness in inviting investment. This is very important in order to open up more quality jobs,” he added.

Previously, the public was surprised by the emergence of a new provision from the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziah regarding the disbursement of JHT funds.

This is regulated in Permenaker Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of JHT Benefits.

The reason is that the regulation emphasizes that JHT cannot be disbursed immediately.

In Article 3, it is written that JHT benefits will be given to BPJS Employment (BP Jamsostek) participants aged 56 years.
