President Joko Widodo claimed to be inaugurated head of authority who will lead the nation’s capital next week. The person who was chosen by Jokowi as the head of the state capital authority (IKN) Nusantara is not a party cadre.
“Maybe this week (determined), next week we will be inaugurated,” said Jokowi at the NasDem Tower, Jakarta, Tuesday (22/2).
Jokowi said the head of the authority he would appoint later was not from a political party.
“Non-party,” said Jokowi.
The head of the authority has the authority to determine the location of land acquisition in the new state capital (IKN) or the archipelago. This authority refers to Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital Article 16 Paragraph 5.
“The determination of the location for land acquisition in the Indonesian Capital City is issued by the Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority,” reads Article 16 Paragraph 5 of the IKN Law, quoted on Sunday (20/2).
The law also explains that land acquisition in IKN Nusantara is carried out through a forest area release mechanism and a land acquisition mechanism in accordance with statutory provisions. This is as stated in Article 16 paragraph 1.
Jokowi is obliged to determine the head and deputy head of the Nusantara IKN Authority no later than two months after the IKN Law is enacted. In other words, Jokowi has until April 15, 2022 to announce the name of the leader of the new nation’s capital.
“The Archipelago Capital Authority is led by the Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority and assisted by a Deputy Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority who is appointed, appointed, and dismissed directly by the President after consulting with the DPR,” reads article 9 paragraph (1) of the IKN Law.
However, the head and deputy head of the Nusantara IKN Authority can be dismissed at any time. Jokowi has the authority to determine the fate of the IKN Nusantara leadership position.
