President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will announce the name of the head of the authority The Capital of the Archipelago. Jokowi will also soon inaugurate the head of the IKN authority.
“Soon (will be announced),” said Jokowi to reporters, after the inauguration ceremony of the NasDem Tower, Tuesday (22/2/2022).
The inauguration, said Jokowi, will be held in the next weeks. “Yes, maybe, maybe this, next weeks too. Maybe next week we will inaugurate,” he said.
Jokowi did not mention the criteria for the head of the authority. He emphasized that the head of the authority would come from non-political parties.
“Non-political parties,” he said.
To note, Jokowi officially signed the IKN Law on Tuesday (15/2). The capital of the archipelago has been agreed in the form of a special regional government unit at the provincial level. The government is called the IKN Authority, which is given to respond to the current development of the digital era in facilitating the implementation of all IKN development affairs.
The information that stated that President Jokowi had pocketed the name of the candidate for the Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority was initially released by the Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Luqman Hakim. According to the PKB politician, Jokowi is waiting for a good day to announce his candidate.
“Head of the Nusantara IKN Authority, his name is already in President Joko Widodo’s pocket,” said Luqman when contacted, Friday (18/2/2022).
“As far as I know, President Jokowi is very focused on the Nusantara IKN development agenda. Including preparing a figure who will be appointed as the head of the authority. When it is announced, I think President Jokowi is waiting for a good day,” said Luqman.
Meanwhile, PPP DPP chairman Achmad Baidowi said that the minister could also serve as the Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority. The politician who is also known as Awiek uses Article 9 of the IKN Law as the basis, which states that the status of the Archipelago Capital Authority is at the ministry level.
There are 3 ministers who have the opportunity to serve as Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority, namely the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam), Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Minister of Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas.
