Jokowi also conveyed the issue of Myanmar to the Japanese PM. Jokowi stressed that the death penalty for Myanmar’s political prisoners is a departure from the 5 ASEAN-led consensus.
“Regarding Myanmar, the President expressed his disappointment at the lack of significant progress in the implementation of the 5-point consensus. All developments in Myanmar, including the death penalty for political prisoners, show a setback, not progress from the implementation of the 5-point consensus,” he said.
“All developments show that the Myanmar military junta is not committed to implementing the 5-point consensus,” he continued.
