Jokowi Directly Dismissed Officials, Luhut: His Inconsiderate Pertamina Request Forgiveness

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed that there were PT Pertamina (Persero) who was fired directly by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Luhut explained that the chronology of this dismissal occurred because the person concerned had gone too far in making policies at Pertamina.

“A high-ranking Pertamina official was fired by the president directly yesterday,” said Luhut in the 2021 BPPT Technology Innovation Ecosystem Strengthening National Meeting which was broadcast via Youtube BPPT TV, Tuesday (9/3/2021).

The dismissal was related to the use of the domestic component level ( TKDN) on the Pertamina project. The project in question is mainly related to Pertamina’s pipeline.

“Making pipes, earlier was Pertamina. Pertamina is carelessly asking for mercy. It still imports pipes even though they can be made in Indonesia. How is that, “he said.

However, Luhut did not explain in more detail who the official in question was. Luhut did not mention the names of the officials who were fired directly by Jokowi.

Luhut then brought up the importance of nationalism. He regretted that there are officials who ignore domestic interests just because of personal material matters.

“Well, our love for that idealism, in my opinion, is lacking. You are younger than me. I am 74 years old this year. So I am sad sometimes to see young people, sorry my term prostituting professionalism is just like this (money), “he explained.

This former Kopassus soldier also revealed a conversation with Jokowi regarding TKDN. He said, the use of TKDN was very important to support job opening.

“I explained to the president, we have capital expenditure, the expenditure for goods is around Rp. 1,300 trillion. You can imagine everything if we could only use 60 percent or 50 percent local content that’s 50 billion dollars (US), “he said.

According to him, this will create millions of jobs. In addition, the use of TKDN also has an impact on significant savings and the progress of the nation’s children.

The dismissal of officials according to Luhut is important so that no one plays for personal gain anymore. Therefore, Luhut recommended that Jokowi should be fired.
