Jokowi Attends PDIP National Working Meeting III in Jakarta: Megawati’s Speech Held Behind Closed Doors

PDIP held a National Working Meeting (national meeting) III today. Today’s opening agenda was attended by Mr President (Joko Widodo) Jokowi.

PDIP National Working Meeting III was held at the Lenteng Agung PDIP Party School, South Jakarta, Tuesday (6/6/2023). The Rakernas was opened directly by the Chairperson of the PDIP Megawati Sukarnoputri.

Apart from Jokowi, the presidential candidate (bacapres) Ganjar Pranowo, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, Head of the Center for Analysis and Control of the PDIP Situation Prananda Prabowo, and Chair of the PDIP DPP who is also Chair of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani were also present.

There is also PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey to former Secretary General Pramono Anung. They sat side by side in the front row. Megawati was seen flanked by Jokowi and Ganjar Pranowo.

Shortly after the PDIP National Working Meeting III started, there was a group photo session. Megawati, who was standing between Jokowi and Ganjar, posed for a metallic salute. Jokowi, Ganjar and other PDIP elites standing in Megawati’s line also posed for metal greetings.

The theme for this year’s III National Working Meeting is ‘The Poor and Neglected Children are Cared for by the State’. The opening of the National Working Meeting began with singing the songs Indonesia Raya, Mars and Hy’ne PDIP Perjuangan and reading the Dedication of Life.

Hasto led a moment of silence at the event. He said that the PDIP National Working Meeting III was also the momentum for the birth of the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno on 6 June 1901.

“While praying to the presence of God Almighty, so that the spirits of the nation’s heroes, especially Bung Karno, will be accepted at His side and we can inherit the fire of his struggle. The moment of silence begins,” said Hasto, who was immediately greeted with a bow.

After a moment of silence, the event continued with the opening as well as a political speech from Megawati Soekarnoputri. However, Megawati Soekarnoputri’s political speech will take place behind closed doors.

“Next, we will listen to the political speech of the Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan Mrs. Prof. Dr. (Hc) Megawati Soekarnoputri, where this event is closed. Once again, this event is closed. Honorable we give a standing ovation, we welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. (Hc) Megawati Soekarnoputri,” said the host of the National Working Meeting.

Prananda Prabowo led Megawati to a welcoming chair in the middle of the Party School hall. Then, the event took place behind closed doors. The broadcast of the PDIP National Working Meeting III which was broadcast by the PDI Perjuangan YouTube account also stopped.

Previously, Hasto Kristiyanto also revealed the reason why Megawati and Jokowi’s speeches were held behind closed doors by the media crew. This is because the speech contained a matter of PDIP strategy in dealing with the 2024 legislative and presidential elections.

“The opening of the National Working Meeting will be attended by Mr. President Jokowi. In a political speech, Ms. Megawati Soekarnoputri as well as remarks and directions from President Jokowi with apologies will be delivered later in private,” said Hasto.
