JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Professor of the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Azyumardi Azra asked the President Joko Widodo to not let the wild ball issue extension of the presidency keep rolling.
According to Azyumardi, Jokowi need to take an explicit firm stance.
“President Jokowi must not allow the wild ball of political issues to continue to create chaos,” Azyumardi said Kompas.com, Sunday (6/3/2022).
On the other hand, Azyumardi requested that the former governor of DKI Jakarta encourage political parties to start preparing for the 2024 general election.
“On the contrary, it encourages political parties and related institutions to consolidate and prepare for the 2024 General Election as well as possible on time,” explained Azyumardi.
Azyumardi said that Jokowi’s statement that he would comply with the constitution had not answered the recent political commotion.
According to him, Jokowi’s statement so far is still normative.
“President Jokowi’s statement that he is obedient, submissive, and obedient to the constitution is still normative; It is not firm enough to answer the political commotion of three political parties proposing the postponement of the February 14, 2024 election,” he said.
According to him, so far Jokowi has not explicitly stated his attitude towards rejecting the discourse proposed by political party elites.
