Jokowi and Xi Jinping Sign Eight Agreements during Meeting in Chengdu

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the President China Xi Jinping agreed on eight agreements when they met in Chengdu on Thursday (27/7).

“First, plan of action from the MoU on health,” said Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi in a press statement witnessed via a video showing the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Thursday evening.

Retno detailed the eight agreements that were produced from the two countries, namely first, the Action Plan or action plan for cooperation in the health sector, and the second agreement covering the protocol for opening access to agricultural product markets for porang flour commodities.

Furthermore, the third agreement includes a protocol for opening agricultural product market access for tabasheer powder commodities from Indonesia to China.

Meanwhile, according to Retno, the fourth agreement that Jokowi and Xi agreed on was a matter of cooperation in research and development of the plant breeding industry (plant breeding) and marine aquaculture.

The fifth agreement, said Retno, was about RI-China cooperation regarding the transfer of knowledge and experience for the development of the Archipelago’s Capital City (IKN). In the sixth agreement, the two countries agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on increasing Indonesia-China cooperation “Two Countries, Twin Parks”.

The seventh agreement is a memorandum of understanding on economic and technical cooperation, and the eighth agreement is a memorandum of understanding on Chinese language education.

Retno also said that the two countries agreed on the results of the work (deriverables) in the form of an investment commitment that will be conveyed directly by President Jokowi.

“Beyond that, there is deriverables in the form of investment commitments, the details of which will be conveyed tomorrow, after the business meeting,” said the Foreign Minister.

President Jokowi is scheduled to attend a number of business meetings with Chinese investors and attend the opening of the FISU University Games on the second day of his visit to Chengdu tomorrow.

In the meeting with Xi, Jokowi has also invited China and its investors to participate in investing in the construction of IKN in Kalimantan.
