The deputy for Finance of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Something Peronaaged 46, died tonight in the town of Peleas de Abajo, Zamora, where he was on holiday, after being run over by a vehicle while riding a bicycle with his ten-year-old son, who was unharmed.
The deputy general of the Provincial Council of Guipúzcoa, Eider Mendoza, has conveyed her condolences to the family. “The entire Basque Country has lost a great public servant,” she wrote in a message that she posted on the social network X.
Previously, Perona was the General Director of Finance at the Provincial Council, between 2015 and 2020. He was born in San Sebastián and had a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Deusto. During his professional career he also worked at Caja Laboral and Kutxa.
According to the media ‘Zamora 24 horas’, the deputy was taking a walk with his minor son when he was run over by a car at kilometre 3 of the ZA-V-2102. The person driving the vehicle has tested negative in the alcohol test. The Civil Guard of Zamora is investigating the incident.
1-1-2 Castilla y León reported that they received a call at 9:17 p.m. alerting that a cyclist had been knocked unconscious after being run over by a car.
The emergency services notified the traffic police in Zamora and the emergency coordination centre (CCU) of Sanitary Emergencies – Sacyl of the accident, from which a mobile ICU and primary care health personnel from the Corrales del Vino health centre were sent.
