“Joker” with Joaquin Phoenix is ​​about a man who feels neglected by society (and sometimes is). Eventually he goes crazy and seems to be enjoying his chaotic outbursts in the process. From “The Devil Wears Prada”, Meryl Streep is remembered as the fashion boss who treats her employees as if they were her personal slaves. “Cruella” now looks as if Emma Stone is playing the part of Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Thompson that of Meryl Streep.

The young Estella (Stone) is a talented designer living in London in the 1970s. But her background from a lower social class has so far prevented her from making a career as a fashion designer. Together with her two friends, the amateur thieves Horace (Paul Walter Hauser) and Jasper (Joel Fry), she commits minor crimes – until she suddenly gets the chance to rise. But what will she sacrifice for it (and how many Dalmatians?).

Should come to the cinema and Disney + at the same time

If the movie theaters are then allowed to be open, “Cruella” will be on 27. May 2021 start in German cinemas. But just one day later, the film will be shown on Disney +, when the subscribers are willing to pay the one-time extra fee of 21.99 euros (then the film will be available as long as the Disney + subscription is running ).

Cinemas will therefore not be able to rely on showing the film exclusively. The MCU superhero adventure “Black Widow” will also be on the 8./9. July published in this new way. The cinema industry is now wondering whether this will remain a model that is limited to the pandemic period, or whether the world’s largest media company Disney will continue to do so after Corona.
