Joker happy, Arthur Fleck miserable

Jakarta – Joker: Folie a Deux presents something rarely seen by directors in the superhero genre. If there is a term for the DCU known for its dark movies, Todd Phillips makes them even darker.

He earnestly torments the character of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) to a degree that has never been explored before.

It seems that Arthur was born only to suffer, there is no purpose in his life. It is only a human being who has completely lost his way and has never known what love is.

Suddenly Lee Quinzel (Lady Gaga) appears which becomes a new color and goal in his life. But as before, he was again open to the seduction of women.

At first, he was deceived by his mother, who said that his birth was aimed at bringing happiness to the world, which made him choose a comedian as his life’s goal, which turned out to be just a trick to avoid he would kill himself.

Then he was deceived again by his lawyer, Maryanne Stewart (Catherine Keener), who only used the case as a prestigious event in her career without taking Arthur’s condition seriously and his state of mind during the trial.

And finally he was deceived by his first and last love, Lee. Every word of the psychologist from a very rich family was turned into absolute nonsense. Lee is only surprised by the Joker, not Arthur Fleck, like most people.

No one cares about him, maybe the only one who is sincere to his colleague at Arkham Asylum, that is Ricky (Jacob Lofland).

Arthur is truly pathetic, in fact his status as a villain is shown as a victim of his own life. Like the OST he did from Frank Sinatra, That’s Life, life tore him apart until he fell down and then he got up and fell down even deeper.

This made many fans disappointed because they did not know what Joker, Lee (Lady Gaga) and Harvey Dent (Harry Lawtey) were presenting there.

Instead of being full of action scenes and eye-catching visual effects like superhero movies usually are, Todd Phillips made this movie full of amazing dialogue and music.

There has probably never been a villain with such a brilliant life in the entire cinematic history of superhero movies. And of course the plot was already revealed in the opening scene where the Joker was dancing while Arthur Fleck was confused.
