Last week, on the night of September 30 to October 1, Debenedetti created a Twitter account under the name of Annelies Verlinden, whose name just became known at the time as the new CD&V minister of the interior in the federal government. The account then started, according to the standard Debenedetti procedure, to follow a large number of Belgian politicians and political journalists on Twitter, many of whom did not realize that it was not the real Annelies Verlinden. The fake profile thus collected more than 1,000 followers. The brand-new minister, however, already had an account on Twitter, although she had not used it since 2016.
