“Joker: Folie à deux”, a romantic story with a musical comedy backdrop. A first teaser was posted online last night.
It took five years, after the release of Joker in 2019, to discover the continuation of the adventures of Batman’s most famous enemy.
The title “Folie à Deux” refers to a psychiatric phenomenon in which two individuals share the same psychosis. The story will take place, among other places, in Arkham prison, where the “bad guys” of DC Comics are held prisoner.
We should expect a movie action mixed with a “musical comedy”, according to this first trailer. We don’t really know what place the songs will take, but singing or dancing sequences should appear in the feature film. We understand, however, that the music used to help Arkham patients will be the starting point of this new adventure. Around fifteen famous songs should be included.
Todd Philips still remains at the helm for this second opus. We will discover the birth of the love story between Arthur Fleck and Harleen Quinzel (aka the Joker and Harley Quinn). In the comics, she is a psychiatrist. Here, the story seems to present her as a patient.
To play the two lovers, Joaquin Phoenix will once again don the costume of Arthur Fleck’s psychopath who won him the Oscar for best actor in 2019. This time he appears emaciated and still in full dementia, imprisoned for the murder of Murray Franklin (played by Robert de Niro). It will appear alongside Lady Gaga who will take on the role of Harley Quinn, after Margot Robbie in The Suicide Squad et Birds of Prey.
