Jonatan Christie successful advance to the second round Denmark Open 2021. Against Prannoy HS Kumar from India, Jojo managed to win straight set with a score of 21-18, 21-19 in 46 minutes.
Playing at Odense Stadium, Wednesday (20/10/2021), Jojo was 1-5 behind, but was able to catch up to equalize the score 6-6. The position continued to be tied up to 9-9, but Jojo managed to close the interval with an 11-9 advantage.
After the interval, Prannoy had time to turn things around to 12-11, but Jojo managed to equalize the numbers to 12-12. The chase of points continued until 16-16, and after that Jojo could no longer be caught, and closed the first set with a score of 21-18.
In the second set, Prannoy had a 3-0 lead, but Jojo replied to become 3-3. The two fought each other for points tightly until the score was 7-7. Jojo then left Prannoy with a 10-8 advantage, and closed the interval with a score of 11-8.
After the interval, Prannouy tried to reduce the distance between the points with Jojo to 10-12, but Jojo added two points to move away again with a score of 14-10. Jojo then widened the distance to 16-11, but was cut again by Prannoy with an additional 4 points in a row to 15-16.
Jojo who was trying to get out of the pressure managed to add two consecutive points to then lead 18-15. From here, Prannoy kept trying to keep up with Jojo, and finally leveled the score at 19-19.
But Jojo was finally able to take the remaining two points to finish the second set with a score of 21-19. With this result, Jojo has the right to advance to the last 16 and will meet Japan’s representative, Kante Tsuneyama.
Tsuneyama the day before managed to beat Heo Kwang-hee (South Korea) with a score of 21-23, 21-14, 21-18 in a match that lasted 75 minutes.
Apart from Jojo, today’s men’s singles match still leaves Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who will face Thomas Rouxel (France) and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito who will fight Lee Cheuk Yiu (Hong Kong)
