The program offer via the antenna will be richer with a new sports channel JOJ Šport. Technical tests of the program appeared today in the first nationwide DVB-T2 multiplex. The broadcast is currently broadcast unencrypted (HD / MPEG-4). Viewers with the possibility of receiving programs via the antenna can watch the trailer for the JOJ Šport station, which should start broadcasting soon. In the future, however, the program will be coded and available only to subscribers to the Plustelka platform.
JOJ Šport will offer its spectators broadcasts from several sporting events. There should be broadcasts of downhill skiing, athletics, triathlon, indoor sports such as basketball, volleyball, handball and more. In the years 2024 to 2028, it should also be the World Hockey Championships. Thanks to JOJ Šport, Slovak viewers will be able to cheer at screens such as Petra Vlhová in the Alpine Skiing World Cup (since the 2021/22 season), sprinter Ján Volek and other Slovak athletes at domestic and world sporting events. The official start date of JOJ Sport is not known, it was originally planned to start in September.
During our tests, JOJ Sport was distributed in the MPEG-4 (H.264) compression format. The average video bitrate was 7.40 Mbps. It was later reduced to 6.30 Mbps.
Let us mention that other changes took place in DVB-T / T2 today. Sport 2 HD switched to the newer HEVC format, Sport 2 (SD / MPEG-4) appeared in the second multiplex and Sport 1 (SD / MPEG-4) moved from the first to the fourth multiplex. We have already provided details in the previous one report.
