Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman opened the joint summit between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Friday.

Mohammed bin Salman said during the opening of the summit: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Your Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses, may God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. On behalf of my master, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, I am pleased to welcome you to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where we are happy By holding the summit, which comes to consolidate the friendly relations and cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the ASEAN countries.

He added: “Our meeting today aims to develop cooperation and partnership in a way that achieves the interests of peoples, enhances opportunities for development, and consolidates security and stability.”

Mohammed bin Salman stressed: “As we gather, we are distressed by the escalating violence that Gaza is witnessing today, the price of which is being paid by innocent civilians. In this regard, we affirm our categorical rejection of targeting civilians in any way and under any pretext, and the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law, and the necessity of stopping operations.” Military forces against civilians and infrastructure that affect their daily lives, and create conditions for the return of stability and the achievement of lasting peace that guarantees reaching a just solution to establish a Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders, in a way that achieves security and prosperity for all.”

The Emirati President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Riyadh, on Friday, to head the country’s delegation to the first Riyadh summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which is hosted by Saudi Arabia, according to the Emirati News Agency (WAM). ).

The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, was at the forefront of welcoming Mohammed bin Zayed and the accompanying delegation upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

The UAE delegation to the summit includes: Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, according to WAM.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and his accompanying delegation arrived to participate in the Riyadh summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the ASEAN countries, and he was received at King Khalid International Airport by Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Emir of the Riyadh Region.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also arrived in Riyadh on Friday to head the Kuwaiti delegation to the Gulf Summit with ASEAN, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
