Rome, October 10 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President-designate of the COP28 Conference of the Parties, and Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, affirmed in a joint statement today their agreement that climate change poses a major challenge and threat to humanity and the planet, and that confronting This challenge requires effective and ambitious action from all countries, by accelerating the strengthening of all aspects of their nationally determined contributions for the year 2030, in a way that contributes to achieving the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement.
In her discussion with the President of the COP28 Conference of the Parties, the Italian Prime Minister stressed the need to accelerate global efforts to stimulate progress in all elements of climate action, and the importance of supporting efforts to reduce emissions through a logical, practical, fair and responsible transition in the energy sector, taking into account addressing the economic and social dimensions of this transition, and ensuring Its contribution to creating viable job opportunities.
The Italian Prime Minister expressed her appreciation for what the UAE has accomplished, and the pioneering role of His Excellency Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber in implementing the vision of the leadership in the UAE and coordinating the country’s efforts aimed at building a negotiating process aimed at agreeing on a clear plan to accelerate progress, through the completion of a global process to achieve an orderly, responsible and just transition. It makes sense in the energy sector, ensures that no one is left behind, and includes everyone in the climate action system.
It is worth noting that COP28 will be held in Expo City in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, and on this occasion, Italy will hold a concert on the evening of December 1 in Dubai by the international “Teatro alla Scala” orchestra to celebrate the friendship between the UAE and Italy, and to encourage delegations at COP28 to Achieving tangible positive results.
