The Minister of National Education Dr. Rabiou Ousman chaired on Thursday, September 23, the closing ceremony of the work of the joint sector review, under the year 2020 of the education sector. During this 4-day meeting organized by the Support Unit for the implementation and monitoring of the education and training sector program (CAMOS), the participants, mainly made up of executives from the ministries in charge of education and training. education and training, technical and financial partners and actors from socio-professional organizations, examined the Annual Implementation Report (RAE) of the Annual Action Plan (PAA); the Transition Plan for the Education and Training Sector (PTSEF) etc. At the same time, the participants appreciated the important progress made and the results not achieved during the year 2020.
At the end of the work, the Minister of National Education, on behalf of the Prime Minister and all the ministers in charge of education and training, congratulated and thanked the participants for the interest they grant to the education and training sectors. Dr. Rabiou Ousman then recalled that this meeting is being held in a particularly favorable context marked by a firm political will at the highest level of the State. “Indeed, in his message to the Nation, on the occasion of Independence Day, August 3, 2021, SE. Bazoum Mohamed, President of the Republic, Head of State, affirmed. And I quote: education is our biggest challenge. Its weaknesses paralyze our possibilities of building up real human capital, capable of taking charge of the development challenges of our country. Our education system needs to be rethought. And it will be. It will be the translation of the contract that binds me to the Nigerien people. Already, and in accordance with my commitment to personally follow the reforms initiated in this sector, I had to consult the education partners on the main axes of these reforms in order to sensitize them and ask for their opinions and their support ”reported the Minister of National Education.
In addition, the Minister of National Education specified that the presentation of the PTSEF’s 2020 Regional Annual Execution Reports (RRAE) highlighted the significant progress made, but above all the implementation capacity and relevant analyzes acquired. by regional players in such a short time. This observation, he says, is a source of satisfaction for us, all the more so as it further strengthens our strategic choice to transfer 85% of the resources of the Common Fund to the regions.
Note that at the end of the four days of work, the participants made several recommendations. They asked in particular to continue the curriculum reform; to make adequate arrangements to ensure pedagogical continuity in an emergency situation; provide an indicator that provides information on girls who can attend school outside of school; accelerate the adoption of innovative processes for collecting statistical data from schools, etc.
