Joint military exercises between the Latvian Armed Forces and NATO battle groups are taking place at the Ādaži training ground

From November 12 to 14, military exercises “Bold Ax” will take place at Ādaži training ground, in which units of the National Armed Forces together with battle groups of NATO’s expanded presence will take part. According to the Ministry of Defense, soldiers of the National Armed Forces Army Infantry Brigade, cadets of the Latvian National Defense Academy and soldiers from NATO’s extended presence battle groups in Latvia and Estonia are participating in military exercises.

The aim of the training is to improve cooperation and interoperability at the level of jewelry and battle groups by carrying out defense operations in both rural and urban areas. The training also trains combat readiness and the performance of tasks with impaired radio communications.

During the training, short-term noises may be heard, which do not harm others and property, the ministry points out.

The Armed Forces apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for an understanding of the possible temporary disruption of traffic caused by the increased movement of military equipment on the roads. Military equipment columns are accompanied by the Military Police, the State Police or the Relocation Coordination Center. As the military approaching a column, the armed forces urge drivers to follow traffic rules and not to obstruct the movement of the columns, for example by trying to overtake it.
