Johnson says Britain has gained independence; Brexit without worry | World | Deshabhimani

London
As the world enters the New Year with hope, Britain ends its 47-year relationship with independence from the European Union. At around 11pm on Thursday in the EU headquarters in Brussels, the big bell (Big Ben) rang 11 times in the British Parliament building at 11pm, leaving the two sides separated. In India it was then four-thirty on Friday morning. In Britain, the birthplace of the new variant of the corona, there were no large gatherings to express the joys or sorrows of this historic moment.

In a video released later in the year, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson described it as a “wonderful moment” for the country. ‘We have our freedom in our hands. We want to make the most of it, “said Johnson. However, Johnson’s father, Stanley Johnson, has applied for French citizenship as a reflection of the concerns of about half the British. The British can no longer live and work in other European countries without a visa as in the past.

Brexit without worry

In June 2016, the British people decided in a referendum to leave the European Chamber of Commerce. Of the 1.74 crore people who took part in the referendum, 52 per cent were in favor of secession (Brexit), while 16.1 per cent, 48 per cent, were against the British. Theresa May became Prime Minister following the Brexit result of the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron. But Boris Johnson became prime minister in June 2019, when she resigned after failing to realize Brexit for three years. Yet it was at the end of that year that the separation agreement was reached. Subsequently, Britain technically left the EU on January 31, 2020. Thursday marks the end of an 11 – month transition period in which Britain continues to receive benefits for EU members other than the right to vote.
This was preceded by a free trade agreement with the EU and the UK a week before Christmas. Under the 1,200-page agreement, there will be no tariffs or quotas for trade between the two parties. However, as people’s concerns persist, commodity companies are waiting for the right decisions. A major company has suspended shipments to the EU until 11 p.m.
