The ‘premier’, who has been questioned about whether England would follow in the footsteps of Northern Ireland and Wales, which will be confined after the Christmas period, has reiterated that the relaxation of the restrictions for Christmas constitutes “at most a maximum” and “not a target people should aim for.”
Thus, he has urged British citizens to “think” of their old loved ones and “avoid spreading the disease” at Christmas, as reported by the BBC. The British Government will allow unrestricted movements throughout the territory between December 23 and 27, while the meetings may include people from a maximum of three households.
The British Ministry of Health has confirmed this Friday a total of 28,507 new infections of COVID-19, a figure lower than that found during the previous day, more than 35,300. Deaths due to the disease have also decreased in the past 24 hours, with 489 compared to more than 500 on Thursday.
With these figures, the British health authorities have counted 1,977,167 people infected with COVID-19, while the fatalities in the United Kingdom due to the disease amount to 66,541.
On the other hand, 1,726 more people have required hospitalization for COVID-19 this Friday. So far, 18,469 people remain admitted to hospitals with the disease, of the 1,340 require mechanical respiration.
