Netflix will be releasing a five-part documentary series called “Johnny by Johnny” by the end of the year. A program in which Laeticia Hallyday, the rocker’s wife and her two children, David Hallyday and Laura Smet, refused to participate.
Directors Frédéric Benudis and Charlotte Altschul are in the process of preparing a documentary series dedicated to Taulier, Johnny Hallyday for Netflix. Filming has already started according to The Parisian and the program should be broadcast at the end of the year. The particularity of this program, which will be called Johnny by Johnny, is that the rocker will be the narrator of his own story with excerpts from audio interviews provided by INA and Universal Music, the record company of its greatest hits. The episodes, which should last around forty minutes each, will consist ofarchive images and testimonials.
Line Renaud, the singer’s godmother, the photographer Jean-Marie Perier, the guitarist Yarol Poupaud or Pierre Billon, one of his most faithful friends agreed to participate. On the other hand, the directors confronted to the refusal of the singer’s family. According to Le Parisien, the singer’s widow, Laeticia Hallyday, their children David Hallyday and Laura Smet, or one of his ex-wives, Sylvie Vartan, as well as his friend Eddy Mitchell, they did not wish to participate in the project.
