Johnny Depp loses in a lawsuit against a British publisher for defamation – Kino

U.S. film star Johnny Depp has lost in a defamation case against The Sun publisher for a 2018 article in which he was named his wife’s beater.

Depot’s case against News Group Newspapers (NGN) and The Sun’s editor-in-chief, Den Wuton, attracted international attention. The newspaper claimed that Depp attacked his ex-wife Amber Herd while they were in a relationship.

The London Supreme Court today dismissed Depp’s claim, saying NGN had proved the allegations in the article true, the media reported.

The lawsuit, which lasted 16 days, revealed allegations of brutal violence and sensational revelations about Depth’s and Herd’s turbulent relationship.

The two actors met on the set of the film “The Rum Diary”. In 2015, they got married.

In May 2016, Herd filed for divorce from Depa due to his emotional and physical abuse. By entering into a divorce agreement in August 2016, Depp agreed to pay $ 7 million to two charity-selected charities, but she in turn withdrew allegations of violence.

In 2019, Depp sued Herd for defamation in the press about domestic violence in their family. This case is still pending.
