Johnny Depp Faced With Texting About Amber Heard: ‘Let’s Drown Her Before We Burn Her’

Day seven in the lawsuit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. And already the third day that the actor takes a seat on the witness stand. Depp has already revealed his side of the story by answering questions from his own legal team. On Wednesday evening, the opposing team was allowed to start their interrogation of Depp, but there was only time for a few questions. On Thursday, Amber Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn continued his questioning.

Rottenborn started by asking Depp about his friendship with actor Paul Bettany and asking if they had ever taken drugs together. Depp responded in the affirmative. He then read several text messages between the two. “Let’s burn Amber!!!” reads the first, from Depp to Bettany. Another says: “Let’s drown her before we burn her!!!” and “I’ll fuck her burned corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.”

Rottenborn went on to read some messages in which Depp writes to Bettany about drinking “a thousand red bulls and vodkas”, taking “pills” and drinking “two bottles champers on the plane.” Those latest reports are said to date from around the time Heard accused Depp of being violent on a plane.

And the lawyer didn’t stop there. Rottenborn read a whole series of text messages in which he, among other things, called Heard a “dirty whore”. The use of the word “monster” is also striking. This description was mentioned several times throughout the process. Heard is said to have coined the term “monster” whenever Depp used drugs and alcohol. But according to the actor herself, she would have continued to use that term later when he was sober.

“The Australian quarrel” was also discussed again on Thursday. Depp worked on the film in Australia Pirates of the Carribean 5, but had asked his lawyer to explain to Heard – who had remained in Los Angeles – a possible marriage contract. According to Depp’s statement, Heard reacted violently and flew to Australia. There, the two got into an argument in which his ex-wife threw several glass bottles at his head, the actor said. One hit his hand causing him to lose the tip of his finger. Depp clarified at Rottenborn’s request that while filming Pirates of the Carribean therefore had make-up on his fingers.

The lawyer then said that it was not only about make-up, but that the actor also wrote messages on the wall, mirrors and other objects with paint on his fingers. Depp responded by saying that his blood had “dried up,” so to speak, so he stuck his finger in a can of paint to put “his verbal messages” on the wall.

Heard’s attorney also questioned Depp’s claims that she caused the wound to his finger. He did so by citing a message the actor sent to his private doctor: “I chopped off my left middle finger as a reminder never to cut off my finger again!!!” And also a message he sent to a nurse that started with the sentence: “The first time I just chopped off my finger…”
