The cameras are currently running internationally for a new part of the “John Wick” saga. There are already three parts in which Keanu Reeves lets it rip properly, further stories about the title hero and the world of contract killers are already planned – including “John Wick 4”, which is also being shot in Berlin, among other places.
The plot is intended to chase the antihero through various locations around the world, but many more details are not yet known. In return, action film fans can look forward to an extremely exciting addition to the cast: like the trade journal Deadline reports, namely Donnie Yen will be hiring for “John Wick 4”.

Yen is an action film icon herself who has been in business for a long time and caused a sensation, especially in Chinese cinema. As a martial arts star on the big screen, you can confidently name him in the same breath as other greats such as Jackie Chan or Jet Li, and he has also made international audiences such as “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars” Story “or the” Ip Man “series. That makes him right away biggest action co-star in “John Wick” history to date.
According to the report, Yen is supposed to play an “old friend” of John Wick, with whom he shares a common history and common enemies. Nothing more is known about his role, including its scope. In this context In any case, one can only hope that it will be larger and more substantial, as for example Halle Berry’s in “John Wick 3”. The Oscar winner also played an old friend Wicks, but was ultimately only seen for a slightly longer episode and only one (admittedly quite sprawling) action scene.
Even though “John Wick 4” will undoubtedly be primarily Keanu Reeves’ show again, it would be a shame if someone of Yen’s caliber would only be used in a limited way. Side by side they are sure to cause a sensation – but let’s be honest: A direct confrontation would actually be much more exciting. Finally, in the predecessor, Mark Dacascos, an equally well-known martial arts star, convinced as the villain. So it remains to be seen and also to be hoped that the script will hit one or the other hook and turn Reeves and Yen into enemies.
