O Botafogo communicates that John Textor reached an agreement with the Portuguese Bruno Lage, aged 47, to assume the technical command of the professional team. The Club awaits Lage — champion with Benfica and who has recently played for Wolverhampton, in the Premier League — next week, in Rio de Janeiro, for the signing of a contract and official presentation at a press conference at Estádio Nilton Santos.
Lage arrives accompanied by the following professionals in his coaching staff: Alexandre Silva (assistant coach), Carlos Cachada (assistant coach), Luís Nascimento (assistant coach), Jhony Conceição (analyst) and Diogo Camacho (analyst).

Bruno Miguel Silva do Nascimento began his career as a coach in Benfica’s youth teams between 2004 and 2012. After that period, he also had experiences in the youth categories of Al-Ahli. As an assistant to Carlos Carvalhal, he worked for three seasons at English Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea, from Wales, who played in the Premier League for one season.
In January 2019, Lage returned to his country as head coach of Benfica’s first team. Under his leadership the club won the Primeira Liga title in the 2018/19 season. Bruno Lage was elected, by Liga de Clubes, the best coach of Primeira Liga this season. Benfica also won the Portuguese Super Cup 19/20. With the success on Portuguese soil, the commander took over the English team from Wolverhampton, his last home.
