John Obi Mikel took part in the Chelsea Legend vs Bayern Munich Legend match on September 10, in honor of Gianluca Vialli who passed away. The Chelsea legends won with a score of 4-0.
Some of the Chelsea legends who played in that match included John Obi Mikel, John Terry, Petr Cech, and even Michael Essien.
Reporting from the official Chelsea website, John Obi Mikel was asked for his comments on the matter Chelsea which has been in decline in the past year. No wonder, last season the Blue finished outside the top 10 and this season doesn’t look promising even though they have spent a lot of time playing.
“They have to recruit us again, hahaha, just kidding,” he explained.
“They will be fine, the club is in transition, and must give it time. There are a lot of fantastic young players,” he continued.
John Obi Mikel admitted that he was happy to be able to play again with the legends Chelsea other. Mikel played for Chelsea in 2006-2017 and won 11 championship titles. Including, Mikel won the Premier League twice and once won the Champions League.
Mikel also implied that he gave a message to the current Chelsea players. According to him, the Blues always have the mentality to win, especially when playing at home!
“We are always Chelsea players and when we play at home, we have to win. That mentality is always there, like tonight,” he concluded.
