In the last 10 years, the Hollywood star is forced to accept any commitment, to get back on your feet after burns in the biggest Ponzi scheme
John Malkovich, who shocked the Bulgarians with the price of a ticket for a theater performance, knows perfectly well the value of money and how it is hard earned. For the past decade, the Hollywood star has been forced to accept every role and commitment offered to him after losing his fortune in the biggest Ponzi scheme. The actor changed his entire lifestyle and worked hard. Despite the shock and hardship, as of February 2023, he has already managed to re-build a fortune estimated at approximately $25 million.
At the same time, in our country, the tickets for the show with his participation – “In the solitude of the cotton fields”, in the National Theater – outraged the Bulgarian audience. Those of 50 BGN, the cheapest category, sold out very quickly, and now anyone who wants to appreciate Malkovich’s talent up close can do so “only” for 350 and 400 BGN per ticket.
Amidst criticism that this is too expensive, others have pointed out that this is what theatergoers around the world pay without complaining, while we are clearly not used to it.
At the same time, however, not everyone in Europe finds Malkovich’s touring so salty. Days before he came to Sofia, for example, on February 9 and 12, Malkovich presented “In the Solitude of the Cotton Fields” in Athens at the Onassis Stegi Cultural Center, with tickets priced from 5 to 55 euros.
