John Lennon’s act shocked Queen Elizabeth II

The musician’s gesture was too demonstrative.

In 1969, John Lennon made a big scandal. The musician decided on an act that not only did not arouse the approval of the British, but also unpleasantly surprised Queen Elizabeth II.

A few years before the incident, the performer as part of the Beatles was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. This award is considered knightly and one of the most honorable. Many could only dream of getting it, but, as time has shown, Lennon was not one of them.

This is evidenced by the fact that the musician refused the order. Therefore, he expressed his protest against the fact that Britain interfered in Nigerian affairs and supported the United States after the invasion of Vietnam.

Lennon was almost considered insane for having returned the order, enclosing a letter announcing the refusal of the prize. Now she, along with a message from a celebrity, is kept in the Central Office of the Knight’s Orders.
