Title candidate Red Bull Munich from the German Ice Hockey League has brought back the two young hopefuls John-Jason Peterka and Justin Schütz from Red Bull Salzburg and thus ended the loan deal.
As the three-time German champions announced on Thursday, the 18-year-old Peterka and the 20-year-old Schütz have been back in training with the Munich team since January 6th and 7th respectively.
“In consultation with the NHL organization of the Buffalo Sabers, John is coming back to the Bavarian capital. In Munich he will pick up where he left off with his top performances at the U20 World Cup,” said Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Ice Hockey : “And Justin will also help his home club qualitatively after his strong performances in Salzburg.”
Born in Munich, Peterka was selected in the second round of the draft of the North American professional league NHL in 34th place by the Buffalo Sabers.
Peterka recently played an outstanding tournament alongside captain Tim Stützle at the U20 World Cup in Edmonton. In five games, the striker scored four goals and six assists for the DEB team of national coach Tobias Abstreiter, which was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against Russia (1: 2).
Schütz had been drafted by the Florida Panthers in round six in 2018, but has not yet made it into the best league in the world.
