– At WWE Money in the Bank 2024, John Cena surprised the WWE community by announcing that he will end his active wrestling career in 2025. Cena is planning around 30 appearances on his farewell tour, offering fans one last chance to see him in the ring. How many matches he will actually play remains an open question. For Cena and each of his opponents, this will be a special chapter in WWE history.
The Miz, who has had numerous matches against Cena in the past, expressed excitement at the opportunity to face Cena again. In an interview on the Rich Eisen Show, he threw his name into the ring as a potential opponent and reiterated that he is ready to take on the challenge.
“I’ve been promoting John Cena as the ultimate babyface in WWE, and now it’s really about his final match at WrestleMania in Las Vegas,” The Miz said. “When Cena says it’s over, he means it. And that’s why I’m going to throw my name in the hat for his last match – boom, my name is in the hat.”
Following his retirement, Cena wants to focus solely on his film career, and WWE is preparing for an emotional year that will be marked by Cena’s farewell tour. It remains to be seen whether WWE will honor Cena’s historic career with a final match against The Miz.
– Wrestling legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin gave an unfiltered insight into the reality of his long-standing knee problems on the Bobbycast. In typical Austin fashion, he spoke openly about the pain that has plagued him for years and explained that, in addition to further surgery, he is also considering a total knee replacement.
Austin’s knee problems began during his football days at North Texas State University, now known as the University of North Texas, when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament as a freshman. “It was my first year of college. I ran downfield during a kickoff coverage and severely injured my left knee,” Austin explained. The cruciate ligament tear was serious, but doctors decided not to reconstruct it because the surrounding muscles could stabilize the knee – a decision that accompanied him throughout his entire wrestling career.
“A few years ago I had anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments inserted from cadaver donations, but I will soon need a new left knee,” Austin admitted. Despite these challenges, he is optimistic about the future and hopes to be at WrestleMania 41 in 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“If I could be a part of it and contribute something positive that would excite the fans and benefit WWE, I would be happy.” said Austin. Whether it’s a match, a cameo or just a beer on the biggest stage – the presence of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin should delight many WWE fans worldwide.
