John Bolton comments on Kerman explosions near Qassem Soleimani grave site

(CNN) – John Bolton, former National Security Advisor in the Donald Trump administration, commented on the two explosions that occurred in the city of Kerman near the grave site of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries.

Bolton said in an interview with CNN: “There are many possibilities that American officials pointed towards ISIS. I do not believe that, and I do not think that ISIS has that access to do that, and I do not think that it is Israel, that is not their style, and they do not gain anything from that.”

He continued, saying: “This ceremony was attended by many of the regime’s supporters in Tehran, which leads me to believe that there is a good possibility that it was through an anti-regime force. The Ayatollah’s regime is in a more weak position, and I believe that many believe that they are in the weakest position since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.” “

He added: “Or there could be an explosive device planted by the Ayatollah regime themselves, as they pointed directly at Israel. If they were seeking introductions before carrying out action against Israel directly, now they have that, but we have to know more.”

The two explosions, which occurred during the commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, led to 103 deaths and 188 injuries, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) on Wednesday.

On Thursday, Iran declared a general day of mourning, according to the official Iranian Fars News Agency. So far, no party has claimed responsibility for the two explosions.
