According to the statement, the selection was made as part of a multi-stage application process.
New management structure
In the future, the Pfalztheater will be run by a team of three, not a single artistic director. Until the end of the current season, the Swiss Urs Häberli will be the sole artistic director. After that there is an interim solution. In the future, the Board of Directors will consist of the Artistic Direction, the Operations Direction and the Commercial Direction. Stefanie Niedermeier has been Commercial Director for years, the position of Operations Director is currently vacant.
Beckman is 46 years old
46-year-old Beckmann, born in Mülheim an der Ruhr, studied musicology and philosophy in Bonn and Hamburg. He then worked as a cultural journalist, lecturer, author, orchestral musician and concert playwright – for the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, the Bach International Academy and the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, among others. .
In 2007 he arrived at the Semperoper in Dresden and has worked there since 2010 as head of the art project and deputy director of opera on artistic issues. In 2013 he moved to the theater in the state capital Erfurt and was hired there as Deputy General Manager from the 2014/15 season.
