Johanne Defay cartons le Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic!

For the second day of this Rip Curl Narrabeen Classic surfers benefited from clean conditions all day long, even if the left which made this spot famous was not always well established.

JOHANNE IS BACK

Yesterday we left Johanne Defay on her way to the draft round, but with the confidence that she could dominate opponents within her grasp. She did more than that blowing two lefts like it was a little one St-Leu. Both surfed as well as the other, the two waves scored more than 8 for a total of 16,66 which is by far the best total of the whole competition.

I really wanted to win this series, she explained to the WSL “There is a big difference between trying not to lose a streak or downright want to win it. Before this three-way series, I wanted to win, not just qualify. I was looking forward to coming to North Narrabeen because I like to surf lefts and I feel really comfortable backside. Today we had a mix of lefts and rights, but I was able to find two of the best lefts and it was great.

-Johanne will have a lot to do in a third round which will pit her against a Tyler Wright slightly diminished by an ankle injury, but still dangerous …

MICHEL & JEREMY ARE OUT
Jeremy Flores started the day well by finding a small hit in his draft series. It then largely dominates Connor O’Leary and even allows himself to style Mick Fanning at the post with a left with three particularly well placed turns!

His third turn against Jack Robinson went less well. Leading the series with two decent waves in the opening minutes, Jeremy fails to improve his scores, while Robbo nibbles his lead and ends up taking the lead for 5 tenths with an aerial. He then uses his priority to block Jeremy and push him to the exit …

In a duel of European power surfers, Frederico Morais took over Michel bourez. The Portuguese started the series a little faster than the Tahitian, but we especially regret not having had more substantial waves for what could have been a very nice poster ….

LA VIDEO POST SHOW

We can only advise to go straight ahead at 7:45 and 12:44 to see and review Johanne’s waves!
