GIRONA. She became the fastest woman in the world to ski to the South Pole.
Nevertheless, the nervousness before facing the other champions was great.
– Everyone has a winning streak, and there are several who have just been active, says Johanna Davidsson.
Johanna Davidsson, 40, works as a nurse in Tromsö in Norway. Since last summer, she has also chosen to continue training as a nurse anaesthetist.
But in addition to everyday life with children and partner, Johanna has made expeditions beyond the ordinary. In 2016, she skied solo to the South Pole, becoming the fastest woman in the world to do so and was also named Female Adventurer of the Year in the same year.

Nevertheless, it came as a shock when SVT called and wondered if she was interested in being part of “the master of masters”.
– At first it was a bit surreal, I didn’t think they had asked the right person, she says and laughs.
Won the classic branch
Before the trip, she was nervous about meeting the other champions, but in the classic “Hunter’s Rest” competition, she was the one who stood the longest.

– I had trained a little, but then I barely managed three minutes. Then I managed ten minutes. But it was surprising that I doubled it.
What do you think about when you are in so much pain?
– There are a lot of thoughts. I did some counting, from ten to zero several times. I tried not to think too much about how tired my legs were, but that thought came up many times. The people back home always said “You can do it for five more seconds”, so I thought “I can do it for ten more seconds”.

Plus on life
The health
– It can always be improved a little.
How are you going to improve it?
– Everyone has their weaknesses. There are days when I don’t live as healthy, but that’s good too I think.
The love life
– It can get better.
Why could it be better?
– You have to work on things. That’s good, you can’t lie down and think you’re a perfect partner.
The economy
– I’m probably more of a person who lives for the day than one who saves until I retire. So there have never been any large savings sums.
– I can manage anyway!
The career
– A four.
Now you are going to further your education, what are your goals?
– I felt that I wanted to develop further in my nursing profession and I have worked as a nurse for ten years, so I felt that it was now time to challenge myself with something new.
Will you continue to do some adventurous stuff during the training?
– Yes, it depends on what you define as adventure. It can be small adventures in everyday life that I absolutely will do. I will always be out on tours or out in the mountains. But something long that requires a lot of time, I don’t have that planned now.
The future plans
– You have to be hopeful that it will be good!
Besides the course, what do you have to look forward to?
– Nothing planned, but once I come up with something, it can go quickly in the turns. Now that’s the study I’m focusing on, but when I’m done with that I’ll focus on something else.
