Johan Boskamp does not keep his opinion to himself. Certainly not if his former team Dender is involved.
Dender achieved promotion in the Challenger Pro League. The team of coach Timmy Simons and the former Boskamp team finished second after champion Beerschot and thus grabbed a direct ticket for the Jupiler Pro League.
“They are very welcome. Very well done by Timmy Simons. For a club with limited resources, they have done a very good job this season,” Boskamp told Het Belang van Limburg.
Numbers don’t lie. If Dender finished in second place, they simply deserve that promotion. No matter how limited the club’s resources are.
It was the chairman of KRC Genk who said in an interview that it is a shame that a team like Dender is promoted, because they do not actually have much to offer the competition. The budget is very small and there are almost no supporters.
Boskamp has also heard that criticism. “I read that not everyone is so happy with their return,” the Dutchman continues.
“When Peter Croonen says that he questions Dender’s future potential, I wonder what he is doing. Let everyone run their own club,” he scolds the chairman.
