Joey Hauser signs with the Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with Joey Hauser, who, according to journalist Billy Reinhardt, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Georgia team. This non-guaranteed agreement allows him to be part of the team during the preseason and compete for a position, and offers him some salary incentives in the event that he becomes part of the permanent roster or signs with the College Park Skyhawks of the G League.

Joey, the younger brother of Celtics player Sam Hauser, was already part of the G League last year as a member of the Ontario Clippers, with whom he averaged 3.4 points and 21 rebounds in 6.5 minutes per game. This seemed to catch the attention of the New Orleans Pelicans, who gave him the opportunity to play with them in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he finished with discreet 3 points and 1.5 rebounds on average.

The Louisiana ones didn’t end up offering him a contract, but the Hawks did, who are actually the third NBA franchise Joey has signed with after agreeing to a two-way contract with Utah and an Exhibit 10 with the Clippers last year. However, these didn’t allow him to debut in the league, since Exhibit 10 was really just a mechanism to get him to the G League. We’ll see if that happens this year too, or if he finally manages to reach the maximum competition.
