Joey den Besten became champion in the IRRC Supersport 600 in 2014 and 2017. The IRRC is a racing organization for so-called road racers. “Everything is flat and smooth on the circuit. Everything for safety,” says motorsport journalist Slager. “Road racers need to be able to read a track, know where the potholes are, the bumps, the pavement, the posts. They also need to be able to race at 90 percent, because driving at 100 percent can be fatal. These guys are heroes.”
