Back from 10 games of absence, the knee well protected, Joel Embiid signed 24 points at 8/14 (12/17 throwing), 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks in 28 minutes in the victory 122-113 of the Sixers over Minnesota on Saturday night. Tobias Harris scored 32 points (13/17, 5 rebounds and 4 assists) to lead the team, 1st in the East, to a 34th success this season.
Ben Simmons has compiled 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists while in front, Karl-Anthony Towns gave the Sixers defense a hard time with 39 points to 11/23 (13/14 throwing), 14 rebounds and 5 assists for Wolves at the bottom of the league. The team, ahead of only 4 points (64-60) at the break, held a half, before suffering a 13-0 entry back from the locker room. Seth Curry came to conclude the run with a throw 9’03 (77-60) from the end of the 3rd following a technique taken by the Wolves coach Chris Finch. At best his team came close to 4 points several times in the last 5 minutes, the last of which was on a dunk fromAnthony Edwards (27 points at 10/23, 1 rebound, 1 assist) at 2’02 from the end. The tension was palpable between Embiid and Towns, both suspended after brawling in October 2019. Towns was whistled the entire game by the audience at the Wells Fargo Center. There was a Towns dunk at 8’15 from the end of the 2nd quarter, a crossover followed by a shoot with Embiid’s foul, an Embiid foul at 7’04 from the end of the 3rd quarter and a blatant 1 whistled to the Cameroonian at 7’38 from the buzzer, still on Towns.
